Mac's Gender Neutral Room with Plenty of Color

Name: Mac (6 months)
Location: United States

We were one of those strange couples that didn't find out the sex of our baby! So, when thinking through the space we kept a couple things in mind: we wanted it to be gender neutral, but not void of color. (Boys can have pink, Girls have have blue!) We wanted the room to feel more like a child's play room instead of a nursery. And, lastly, we didn't want a theme.

We pulled inspiration from many places, but mostly from Swedish children's rooms. Our only real "problem" was the duct work that juts out into the room. Our house is an American 4 square built in 1922, so when it was renovated they chose to install the duct work that way. Kind of a pain, but not too terrible.

I think our favorite thing in the room is our glider. Man, oh man. That thing is so incredibly comfortable, and much more affordable compared to similar chairs at Pottery Barn, Land of Nod, etc... Our favorite find though... that map!! We all know how much those things sell for. We got it for $35!! Incredible. Its from the 1950's and was produced by Denoyer Geppert in Chicago.
